It used to be that a slim, well-built laptop with an OLED screen meant spending well over a thousand euro. Asus changes that with the ZenBook 14, a machine that looks and feels high-end but starts at 799 euro. The real surprise is how few corners have been cut for the price.
The ZenBook 14's chassis is made from "Ceraluminium" with a ceramic-like finish. It feels sturdy and refined, more like something twice the price. The keyboard is crisp and backlit, the hinge moves smoothly, and the large touchpad is accurate. There are three color options: Zabriskie Beige, a muted grey-blue, and a bright coral pink. The port selection covers the basics: two USB-C 4 ports with DisplayPort, one USB-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 7 is missing, but Wi-Fi 6E is still fast and works with current AGCOM broadband standards in Italy.
Performance and hardware trade-offs

You can choose 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, but storage is limited to a 256 GB PCIe 3.0 SSD at launch. The SSD is not as fast as newer PCIe 4.0 drives (read speeds are about 3,500 MB/s), but for office work, web browsing, video calls, and light photo or video editing, it's fast enough. The laptop stays cool and quiet, even when pushed, and the fan is rarely noticeable. Gaming is possible only with simple titles; this is not a laptop for heavy graphics work.
ASUS markets the ZenBook 14 as a Copilot+ PC, with a dedicated NPU rated at 45 TOPS for local AI tasks in Windows 11. Features like real-time noise suppression and on-device image processing set it apart in the 2026 market. It handles multitasking and remote learning well, and the webcam and microphone are good enough for meetings and classes. The My Asus app lets you adjust fan profiles, tweak display colors, and turn on AI noise filtering for clearer calls.

OLED display and audio quality
The 14-inch OLED display is the main draw. Asus lists it as WUXGA (1920×1200) with a 60 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits typical brightness, up to 600 nits peak in HDR, full DCI-P3 coverage, and DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification. Colors are vivid and accurate, matching what you'd expect from much more expensive laptops. The glossy finish does reflect light, but that's common even among premium models. The speakers are better than expected: they fire downward and produce balanced sound with clear bass, which is rare for a laptop this thin.
If you need better webcam and mic quality, the My Asus suite offers software tweaks to help with washed-out images and background noise. Switching between performance and efficiency modes is quick, and even at full power, the ZenBook 14 stays quiet.
Battery life and portability
Battery life is where the ZenBook 14's lower price shows. The 50 Wh battery is smaller than the ZenBook A14's 70 Wh unit, so maximum runtime is less impressive. Still, the Snapdragon X1 is efficient enough that you can get through a full workday-over five hours of heavy use at high brightness, and up to 14 hours with lighter tasks and lower brightness. At 2.43 pounds, it's easy to carry, though a bit heavier than the previous model. The internal design is simpler, but the laptop still feels premium on the outside.
While competitors like the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 and Acer Swift Go 16 AI aim for the high end, Asus takes a different approach. The ZenBook 14's mix of design, display, and usability at this price is unusual.
