Montech TEN sells itself as a modular Micro-ATX case at a bargain, but hands-on use shows cooling problems and tough cable management. Does this 10th anniversary case live up to the hype, or does it ask too much from builders?
Montech claims its TEN case can handle a top-end RTX 5090 build. That's a big promise. In reality, the cooling system struggles fast. Even with less demanding setups, CPU temperatures stay between 90°C and 100°C. Trying to run a 1000W gaming system in this small Micro-ATX case is more fantasy than fact.
What the Montech TEN really offers is flexibility for the price. You can take out every panel and bracket, which makes building and swapping parts easy. The case fits Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. It works with both ATX and SFX power supplies. Depending on your layout, you can install up to nine 120mm fans or six 140mm fans. Radiator support goes up to 360mm on the top or side, and 280mm on the bottom, but only if you plan carefully. The internal space is tight at 22.7 liters (420 × 185 × 293 mm), so every millimeter counts.
Cooling setups and real performance
Tests with three different cooling setups-from a Montech NX600 air cooler to a HyperFlow ARGB 360 AIO-showed the same thing: the TEN can only keep up if you keep power draw low. The test rigs used an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and a PowerColor RX 9070 XT. That was enough heat to push the case to its thermal ceiling. Montech's ads show an RTX 5090 inside, but our tests say that's not realistic. For stable use, 400W to 500W is the real limit. The case does fit GPUs up to 425 mm long, as both the official specs and reviews confirm. But the CPU cooler can't be taller than 44 mm, so you need a low-profile cooler if you want air cooling.
Builders will also have to deal with tough cable management and side panels that flex more than they should. The manual is confusing, which makes assembly harder than it needs to be. There are no 5.25-inch bays. You do get up to two 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch drive bays inside. The front I/O is modern for this price: two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, and a combo audio jack. These features are rare at this price and show that the TEN is up to date on connectivity.

Low-cost access and modularity
At £59.99, the Montech TEN is a budget case that tries to offer more than you'd expect. Its modular design is a real plus. You can take the whole thing apart, which makes for easy access and creative builds. But this flexibility means the case isn't as sturdy, and you have to pick your parts carefully. Trying to squeeze in huge GPUs or high-wattage power supplies will only cause problems with heat and fit. Reviews confirm you can fit very large GPUs, but only if you avoid high TDP parts and stick to the 44 mm CPU cooler height limit.
If you work within its limits, the TEN can be a good base for a small, affordable PC. But you can't ignore its weak spots. Montech's marketing might tempt you to go big, but it's smarter to stay realistic about what this case can handle.
