Zankore triggers a seismic shift in Southeast Asia by securing USD 3.1 billion to deploy 100 MW of NVIDIA-powered AI infrastructure in Indonesia, with ambitions to scale up to 1 GW and redefine the region's AI capabilities.
USD 3.1 billion in fresh financing has catapulted Zankore into the front line of Southeast Asia's AI infrastructure race, as the company begins deploying 100 MW of NVIDIA AI compute in Indonesia-just the opening salvo in a plan to reach a staggering 1 GW of capacity.
This is not a speculative vision. The deal, described by Zankore as the largest AI infrastructure financing ever syndicated in Asia-Pacific, is already in motion. Citi, ING, Natixis CIB, Qatar National Bank (QNB) Group, and United Overseas Bank (UOB) have all signed on as senior mandated lead arrangers, underwriters, and bookrunners, with Citi also acting as exclusive debt adviser. The capital will be used to acquire and deploy NVIDIA's full-stack AI computing technologies, including high-performance GPU clusters tailored for AI training, fine-tuning, inference, and agentic AI applications.
Unprecedented scale and ambition
Zankore's initial 100 MW deployment is only the first phase. The company's roadmap targets a full 1 GW of NVIDIA DSX AI Factory capacity, a scale that would dwarf most current regional offerings. The platform is designed to serve AI-native companies, enterprises, startups, developers, and institutions across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, providing dedicated, production-ready compute for the most demanding AI workloads.
Vikram Sinha, Director and Chairman of Zankore, frames the move as a strategic inflection point: "AI is creating a defining opportunity for Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The question is no longer simply whether the region will use AI, but whether we build the infrastructure that enables us to participate meaningfully in creating its future. With NVIDIA's support, Zankore is building the advanced AI computing foundation needed to help turn that opportunity into reality."
Financial engineering and operational model
The USD 3.1 billion senior-term loan facility is structured to support both immediate deployment and long-term scaling. Zankore will use a revenue-sharing and credit-support model, aligning infrastructure expansion with actual customer demand and minimizing capital risk. This approach, praised by Uday Sareen of ING as "a sustainable and replicable financing solution," is intended to make Zankore's growth capital-efficient and responsive to market needs.
Kaustubh Kulkarni of Citi calls the transaction "landmark financing," underscoring the scale of capital and collaboration now required to build next-generation AI infrastructure. The deal's complexity and size set a new benchmark for the APAC syndicated loan market, echoing the kind of high-stakes innovation seen in other sectors-such as the reported earlier leap in mini PC connectivity standards.
Regional impact and competitive stakes
For Indonesia and its neighbors, Zankore's project is more than a technical upgrade. It is a direct challenge to the region's chronic underinvestment in AI compute, which has left local companies dependent on foreign cloud providers and unable to compete at the cutting edge. By anchoring NVIDIA's technology stack in Indonesia, Zankore aims to reverse this dynamic and attract a new generation of AI-driven businesses to Southeast Asia.
The company's phased approach-starting with 100 MW and scaling up to 1 GW-signals a long-term commitment to building not just infrastructure, but a commercial and operational ecosystem capable of supporting advanced AI development at scale. Each phase will expand both the physical platform and the network of customers, partners, and technical talent required to sustain it.
While Zankore's ambitions are bold, the real test will be execution. The region's appetite for AI compute is undeniable, but so are the logistical, regulatory, and competitive hurdles. If Zankore can deliver on its promises, Indonesia could become the AI powerhouse of Southeast Asia, breaking the cycle of dependency and setting a new standard for regional innovation. For now, the company has the capital, the partners, and the technology. The rest will depend on whether Zankore can turn this unprecedented financial and technical foundation into a living, breathing AI ecosystem that actually delivers for its customers-and for the region's future.
